Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Playing for the Scotty Bowman-coached Notre-Dame-de-Grace Monarchs junior hockey team, goalie Rogatien Vachon helped take the Montreal-based junior team to the 1963-64 Eastern Canada Memorial Cup playoff final. Though the Monarchs fell to Toronto in four games, N.D.G.'s lone win of the series was the only loss the Marlboros suffered on their way to winning the Memorial Cup. Offered here are two trophies Rogie claimed in helping lead the Monarchs to the Metropolitan Montreal Junior League title, including the 10"-tall bowl-topped trophy awarded to the league's top goalie. "1963-1964 Rogatien Vachon N.D.G. Monarchs" is engraved on the French language plaque attached to the bottom of the wood base with a barely legible "Trophee La Banque D'Epargne" and the league's name engraved on the outside edge of the dented and tarnished bowl. Rogie's name is also engraved on the plaque attached to the bottom of the face of a 10 1/2"-tall trophy for the Monarch's 1963-64 MMJL playoff title. Rounding out the lot is a vintage Montreal Canadiens pennant which Rogie has signed with his familiar #30 in black marker. Comes with Rogatien Vachon's signed LOA.
