Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Here's another great signed Wayne Gretzky Easton aluminum gamer, also from the second half of the 1989-90 season. Wayne won his first of three Art Ross trophies with Los Angeles and was named the NHL's Second Team All-Star center for a third straight season after a run of seven straight years on the First Team. From the personal collection of Rogatien Vachon, this Gretzky gamer is among the first silver Easton 5100 models used by the Great One after he switched from his familiar Titan. The absence of a handwritten code on top of the stick dates it to prior to the arrival of equipment manager Peter Millar, who began coding Gretzky's sticks in 1990-91. Gretz has placed a nice black marker autograph on the now-bare wood blade insert with "Gretzky" stamped on it. Wayne's tape job was removed from the blade to apply the autograph though his original black foam Gripper handle remains in place. This silver beauty exhibits light but noticeable game wear. It comes with Rogatien Vachon's signed LOA.
