Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010

Wayne Gretzky has signed his game-used Easton aluminum stick from the second half of the 1989-90 season. Wayne scored 40 goals in his second year with the Kings and led the NHL with 102 assists and 142 points to reclaim the Art Ross Trophy. From the personal collection of Rogatien Vachon, this Gretzky gamer is among the first silver Easton 5100 models used by the Great One after he switched from his familiar Titan. The absence of a handwritten code on top of the stick dates it to prior to the arrival of equipment manager Peter Millar, who began coding Gretzky's sticks in 1990-91. Gretz has placed a nice black marker autograph on the now-bare wood blade insert with "Gretzky" stamped on it. Wayne's tape job was removed from the blade to apply the autograph though his original black foam Gripper handle remains in place. This silver beauty exhibits light but noticeable game wear. It comes with Rogatien Vachon's signed LOA.
