The blue felt Toronto Maple Leafs crest from team captain Ted "Teeder" Kennedy's 1951 Stanley Cup Final sweater is beautifully displayed in this magnificent framed montage. "Toronto Maple Leafs" is stitched in individual white felt letters onto the 9 1/2" x 9" blue felt maple leaf-shaped crest which features white thread accents. This exquisite Maple Leafs crest was removed from Kennedy's jersey by Bob Haggert, whose signed letter of provenance accompanies this framed crest montage along with Kennedy's signed handwritten note to the longtime Leafs trainer. Haggert explains that Kennedy presented him with his wool captain's sweater from the 1951 Cup final, which then deteriorated after 40 years of storage and was no longer fit for display. The crest, though, remained in "fabulous condition" and Haggert removed it for proper presentation. It is displayed on a white matte background within a 10 1/2" x 10" recessed cutout in the textured matte along with a vintage 1950 team-issued Maple Leafs pin at the bottom of the montage. A late 1940s photo of Kennedy and Syl Apps with the Stanley Cup, an etching of the exterior facade of Maple Leaf Gardens, a pair of MLG Memories and Dreams coins and a descriptive plaque are also displayed within the 34 1/2" x 31 1/2" black frame.
