Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Ivan Hlinka was one of the greatest hockey players in Czech history. He was a big center and played a similar style to Phil Esposito, often scoring from the slot. At the age of 20, Ivan became a captain of Litvínov team and played on the Czechoslovakian national team for the first time. He played 256 games as a member of the national team and scored 132 goals in international play. He also played in 544 games in Czechoslovak premiere league, potting 347 goals. This vintage knit tie-neck Czech National Team jersey was worn by Hlinka during the 1970s. The jersey features the nations crest at the chest with "Hlinka" crossing the back above his number "21" in drop-shadow style letters. The jersey shows light but obvious game wear with a few marks and some smaller unrepaired holes. The shirt has faded in areas over the years but remains an important and presentable piece of international hockey history. Will come with a letter of provenance from the family of Ivan Hlinka.
