Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010

Team Canada returned to the international medal podium in 1978 with a bronze medal in the world championships in Prague. Canada returned to the tournament the previous year in Vienna after a seven-year boycott of the tournament. The third-place finish in Czechoslovakia was Canada's first international medal since a bronze medal performance at the 1968 Winter Olympic Games in Grenoble, France. Longtime Team Canada dentist Dr. Ernie Lewis has made available these two original International Ice Hockey Federation bronze medals won by Canada in 1978. Both medals have the year "1978" in raised numbers on their respective clasps, which no longer have their original ribbons. Canada finished third behind the host Czechoslovakian team, which settled for silver behind the tournament champion Soviet Union's gold medal performance. These two outstanding medals come along with Dr. Lewis' signed LOA.
