Collection of 9 vintage medals is highlighted by a pair from the 1964 Games in Grenoble and the 1992 Albertville Olympic Winter Games. One of the largest and heaviest issues in the OPM series, the 1968 Grenoble medal has a well-struck profile of a Greek athlete wearing a headband against a background of falling snowflakes on the obverse. The reverse displays a cityscape and view of Mount Belladonne surrounded by the legend Xes JEUX OLYMPIQUES D'HIVER. The word GRENOBLE along with the Olympic emblem rest near the center. The 1992 example has the Albertville Olympic emblem (stylized flame), Olympic rings and the inscription ALBERTVILLE 92 are centered with the legend XVI OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES 8-23 FEBRUARY 92 written in English and French. The reverse depicts a star over the Alps and Olympic rings surrounded by the motto CITIUS * ALTIUS * FORTIUS along the top and ALBERTVILLE 92 along the lower edge. Also included in the lot are a number of participation medals and souvenir medallions from World Hockey tournaments including a German issue from 1967, a heavy copper medal from the 1997 Worlds in Finland, a smaller rectangular medal from the Worlds in Stockholm in 1954 and an official identification medal with attached ribbon from the same tournament. Three more large medals round out the lot and include a 1968-1988 20th Anniversary of the LNAF medal, another from Finland inscribed with "Tampere 1965" and a Russian-issued medal featuring sculpted multi-sport images on the front with a hockey scene. Overall, in excellent-plus condition.
