This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
In what was one of the most exciting hockey tournaments of all time, Darryl Sittler lined up with Hull, Lafleur, Orr, Esposito, Perreault, scoring the tournaments memorable winning goal against the Czechs. This white heavy knit sweater with applied red rubber half leaf Canada crest, name and numbers was worn briefly by Sittler during the international tournament. The Athletic Knit manufacturers tag is sewn into the collar, in size 48. Game wear is evident with a number of stick marks on the sleeves and lower front to go with areas of red board paint transfer, especially found at the right elbow. The jersey has yellowed, possibly from display in a room with smokers, and Darryl has added "Sincere Best Wishes, Darryl Sittler" in ink across the front crest. This jersey is from the first set of whites worn early in the tournament that have the cross-over neck but do not have reinforced elbows. Jerseys from the second set were given to Czech players in the famous exchange at the end of the last game. Comes complete with a letter of provenance from the original owner in addition to a letter of authenticity from Gamewornauctions.net.
