Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
From Imperial Tobacco's very first hockey card issue in 1910-11 comes this fantastic-looking card of Ottawa Senator scoring legend Martin "Marty" Walsh. Riveting is the look on Walsh's face when one contemplates his league-leading 27 goals in 12 ECAHA games (1907-08), 42 goals in 12 ECHA games the following year and his NHA league-high 35 goals in 16 contests in 1910-11. The Senators (13-3 won-lost record) won the Stanley Cup that season and in a challenge match against Port Arthur, Walsh scored 10 times in a 14-4 triumph! Queen's University grad's rookie card is #7 in the set, with this example having been graded EX 5 by SGC. Excellent indeed!
