Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
The image of Wayne Gretzky raising Lord Stanley's coveted trophy for the first time and shaking it above his head is one that astute hockey observers will never forget. Kenny Linseman's early second period goal in the 5-2 Cup-clincher at Northlands Coliseum proved to be the Cup-winner, while Mark Messier copped the Conn Smythe as playoff MVP. This impressive trophy, a miniature copy of the larger award that called the Hockey Hall of Fame its home, is destined to be the showpiece of a great collection. Engraved "Edmonton Oilers 1983-84", the trophy lists the names of Peter Pocklington, Glenn Sather and the coaching staff and team executive followed by a roster of the greatest players ever assembled including Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Grant Fuhr, Andy Moog, Jari Kurri, Glenn Anderson, Kevin Lowe, Paul Coffey. Dave Semenko, Dave Hunter, Ken Linseman, Dave Lumley and many more. What a team! In near excellent condition with slight toning and an original green felt bottom under the black wood base.
