Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Originally presented to goaltender Gilles Gratton, one of hockey's "characters" who earned the nickname "Grattoony the loony" because of his quirkiness, this splendid gold ring is from Gratton's one-season stint with the New York Rangers. That's when he wore hockey's most amazing face protection, his "tiger" mask becoming legendary. The Rangers logo on a blue stone is encircled by the team name and "NHL" here, with Gratton's name on a banner on one shank and "Gratton" on another on the opposite shank. Size 10-1/2 ring has "Jostens 10K" on the interior and shows very little wear. Having worked with Gilles in recent years we can report that he's still a little loony(!) but one heck of a good guy...who will sign an LOA to be included.
