Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Fabulous piece of hockey history was wielded by Mr. Hockey himself, Gordie Howe, as his illustrious 25-year career with the Detroit Red Wings wound down. After scoring career goal number 755 in a 4-2 win on March 7, 1970 at the Montreal Forum, Howe gave his Northland Custom Pro stick to longtime opponent Henri Richard. Howe wrote, "to Henry good luck and health always Gordon Howe" in pen. Lumber also has "755e but" and the date written in French by Richard, who had it on display in his tavern. It was later stolen, only to be returned 30 years later by the guilt-stricken thief! Solid Northland has the original tape forming the knob and on the blade, where two mounting holes appear. A light crack in the shaft is also to note. A superb addition to a Howe/game-used stick shrine, it'll come with Henri Richard's signed LOA.
