Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010

The Conn Smythe Trophy is an annual award given to the most valuable player for his team in the playoffs. There was no doubt who would take home the hardware at the close of the 1966 Stanley Cup Finals. Roger Crozier was outstanding in net for the Detroit Red Wings and although his team fell to the Montreal Canadiens in the final, the Conn Smyth nod went to the Wings netminder marking the first time the award was given to a member of the losing side. This is Rogers's personal vintage plaque, presented to him at the annual NHL Awards ceremony in 1966 and obtained from the family. Two plates attached to the front read "Conn Smythe Trophy" and "Conn Roger Crozier Detroit Red Wings, 1965-66". The plaque measures approximately 12" x 12" and is in excellent to near mint condition.
