Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Beautiful cream and blue wool Toronto Maple Leafs sweater worn circa 1958-59 by Barry Cullen. The felt number "19" is on the back with the expected meandering reinforcing stitch and the double-layer thirty-five point felt Maple Leaf adorns the chest. An ancient tag sewn into the neck reads "Doug Laurie Sports, Maple Leaf Gardens, 458 Church St., Toronto Ont.". Well-worn with loads of pilling and two dozen holes in varying sizes litter the front, back and sleeves. Still, the jersey is very presentable and quite impressive. The tie-neck sweater has been conclusively photo-matched to a shot of Cullen in the 1958-59 Toronto Maple Leafs team photo and a copy of the image and match will be provided to the winning bidder. A rare and highly-collectible Original Six wool!
