Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Any self-respecting Montreal Canadiens fan will want to raise this special pair of autographed retired jersey banners to their rafters. These two extremely limited edition Canadiens jersey retirement banners honoring Jean Béliveau and Guy Lafleur have each been signed by their respective Habs legend. These impressive banners each measure roughly 47" x 21" and are identical in style to those that are displayed at the Bell Centre. Big Jean, whose #4 was officially withdrawn from circulation on October 4, 1971, has added the notation "Habs for life" to his signature on his retired jersey banner. Only four such banners have that particular inscription; this one is number 3 of 4. Lafleur's #10 was retired on February 16, 1985. The Flower's signature on his banner has the added notation "560 Goals" and it is number 7 of only 10 banners with that distinctive inscription. Individual 3" x 5" photos of both Béliveau and Lafleur holding these respective signed banners accompany this lot, along with a signed LOA from each Habs legend.
