Magnificent pair of Koho wood sticks include Hall of Fame defenceman Denis Potvin’s gamer from 1980-81 and fellow New York Islanders great Bob Nystrom’s team-signed gamer from the same era. Potvin’s tape job was removed from his Koho 221 which displays “D Potvin” stamped on the shaft and an “Oct 23 80” date stamp on the back of the shaft just beneath the tape residue from the butt end. “7816” is written in black marker on this Potvin gamer which has handwritten ink notations on the shaft such as “12”, 3” blade, 56” shaft, less stiff” for use by Koho as a pattern stick. Nystrom’s 221 gamer dating from the outset of the Islanders’ Stanley Cup dynasty of the early 1980s retains his original tape job on the butt end and the blade, which has a chip missing from the top edge of the toe. Nystrom is one of 11 who have signed in ballpoint along the shaft along with Potvin, Resch, Goring, Gillies, Bourne, Kallur, and others.
