Truly rare Art Ross Tyer official NHL game puck from the early-1940s has "Andover, Mass." printed along the bottom edge of the orange rubberized hexagonal crest on its face. The notation "Pats. Pend."is also printed on the crest on the face of these World War II era pucks with a blank reverse used by the league from 1942 until 1944 before they were replaced by the Buffalo, N.Y." CCM Tyer crests featuring HOFer Art Ross's famous patent number. The "Sundries" Tyer Rubber box which houses the "'Art' Ross - Tyer Official Puck Adopted by National Hockey League, Pats. Pend.", as printed on its cover.Hard to imagine coming across a finer example of this rare beauty which features beveled edges and a dimpled side, distinctive innovations at the time by Ross which quickly became puck-making standards.
