A remarkable lot of Maple Leaf Gardens financial records from November 1, 1938 to March 31, 1940 includes correspondence regarding Conn Smythe's life insurance policy, including Smythe's May 3, 1939 dividend accumulation certificate from the Manufacturer's Life Insurance Company. Also featured is a Sun Life Assurance letter with detailed information about the life insurance policies of 10 Maple Leafs players, including Broda, Conacher and Drillon, and a 1939 playoff expense report. Frank Selke signed 17 documents and his initials appear on eight more. Foster Hewitt signed 12 documents. Conn Smythe initialed two letters addressed to him. "The British Treasury Cabinet Binding Case No 12" binder has "No. , Maple Leaf Gardens Ltd" and "Journal Vouchers #1558-1919" written on its J.A. Cook & Son Ltd. label and is housed in its original 9 1/4" x 12 1/2" x 3 1/2" sleeve.
