Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Perfect pairing of scarce mementos from the Seventies includes the game program from what has been dubbed "The Greatest Game Ever Played". On the night of December 31st, 1975, the Montreal Canadiens played host to the visiting Central Red Army in a battle for hockey supremacy. Ken Dryden against Vladislav Tretiak. Guy Lafleur versus the talented Valeri Kharlamov. A battle of end-to-end rushes and amazing goaltending by both Tretiak and Dryden ensued. On this night there would be no victor as the teams skated to a 3-3 draw in front of a mesmerized crowd at the Montreal Forum. The program is intact and in very good to excellent condition with a slight cover crease. Also included is the skate-shaped 1975 NHL All Star Game press pin issued only to pass-holding members of the media. These wonderful and rare pins, issues a number of times throughout the Seventies are highly sought-after. Blue enamel is sandwiched between a protective glaze and a Sterling silver (marked) base. In excellent-plus condition with original pinback clasp.
