Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Two official 1980 Winter Olympics medals highlight this lot of items from the Lake Placid Games. Also included are two original Olympic hockey tournament officials' armbands, one green and one blue, and three Lake Placid ID badges belonging to Mark Gilligan, the chairman of equipment and supplies for ice hockey at the 1980 Games. The XIII Olympic Winter Games Lake Placid 1980 logo appears in relief on one side of an "Official Olympic Village" bronze medal, which features the Olympic Rings on the bottom of the other side beneath a triangle peak with "Lake Placid" beneath a snowflake. The Olympic athlete's oath surrounds one side of a silver-colored participation medal from the 1980 games. Both medals are 3-inch diameter and each comes with its original box stamped "Medallic Art Co., Danbury, Ct." inside the lid.
