Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Fabulous personal photo collection from the career of Russ Blinco is highlighted by a group shot of the men responsible for the Montreal Maroons' second and last Stanley Cup title in 1934-35. Blinco is third from the left in the first row, which also includes Hall of Famers Alex Connell, Hooley Smith and manager Tommie Gorman, while Lionel Conacher is standing at the far left. Framed glossy is joined by another 8" by 10", a Rice original which Russ signed "To Mary, Darling much Love, Russell." A classic slamming-on-the-brakes shot features Blinco and linemates Earl Robinson and Dave Trottier, while Blinco, Dick Irvin, Elmer Lach and Ken Mosdell are included in a 1951 Bedford Arena (which Blinco managed) opening ceremony photo. Blinco, Toe Blake and Jimmy Ward are posed with others wearing "NHL" uniforms in a 5" by 7" baseball diamond clic, while two group shots (one featuring Maroons players, the other in front of an airplane) are also intriguing. An LOA from the Blinco family will be included with these captivating images.
