This printed glass panel featuring the old NHL crest logo comes directly from the Hockey Hall of Fame and was used to showcase the Presidents’ Trophy, the league’s award for the team with the best overall regular season record. This heavy 42” x 13” panel of frosted glass was displayed along with the Presidents’ Trophy in the Great Hall of the downtown Toronto museum. Presented to the league by its board of governors in 1986, the Presidents’ Trophy was first claimed by Edmonton, which repeated the feat the following year. The Detroit Red Wings have won it a record six times while the Calgary, the New York Rangers, Dallas and Colorado are all two-time winners. The panel features the league’s original logo crest, which is likely why it was replaced, as it fell victim to the league’s decision to update and modernize its logo.
