The 2009 Montreal Centennial Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2009
Capturing their fifth Stanley Cup over the short span of seven years, the Edmonton Oilers of the Eighties ensured that they would forever be regarded as a hockey dynasty. The players and management of the 1989-90 Championship team were forced to make room in their trophy cases for yet another of these silver plate replicas of Lord Stanley's Cup. Mark Messiers engraved name leads the list of talent along with those of Adam Graves, Martin Gelinas, Bill Ranford, Grant Fuhr, Kevin Lowe, Jari Kurri, Joe Murphy, Glenn Anderson and more. This example was produced in recent years by Boffey of Montreal and is identical to those presented to the members of the victorious Oilers by the National Hockey League in a tradition dating back to 1957. Brown felt covers the bottom of the black wood base, with manufacturer's decal. In near mint condition.
