The 2009 Montreal Centennial Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2009
Historic pieces of Montreal Canadiens' memorabilia are these three game used sticks which combined to score the Habs' 9999th goal on home ice. The goal that preceded the franchise's landmark 10,000th marker at home came in a game played at the still then Molson Centre on January 28, 2002. Doug Gilmour scored #9999, with assists going to Andrei Markov and Richard Zednik. All three of the players' sticks had "9999" added to the back part of their knob tape jobs. Gilmour's stick is an Easton Ultra Lite Graphite Kevlar model with wooden blade insert (blade tape removed), Zednik's is a one-piece Easton Synergy and Markov's is a good old wooden Sher-Wood; a PMPX 9950 Iron Carbon model. All three show nice game use. The goal was the first in a 3-1 win over San Jose and came before Sergei Berezin scored #10,000 in the third period.
