The 2009 Montreal Centennial Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2009
A revealing look into the past is offered in these intriguing scrapbooks, originally from a goaltender named Borden Norfolk, a onetime teammate of the legendary Howie Morenz in Stratford, Ontario. Clippings from when the two led the Stratford Indians to the 1922-23 OHA Senior championship and the Grand Trunk title as members of the Stratford G.T.R. Apprentice team are included, along with a neat picture and profile of Morenz stating that more than one professional club has been after his services. A book from the 1930s has the newspaper account of the game when Morenz suffered his career-ending broken leg, along with numerous articles on his funeral at the Montreal Forum and quotes and tributes from the hockey world, revealing that all considered Howie was the greatest ever. Outstanding material, whether you know or not of the legend of Morenz.
