The 2009 Montreal Centennial Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2009
Doug Risebrough, the first pick by Montreal in the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft, was an agitator, often assigned to pester the opponents' top players. In eight seasons with the Canadiens, Risebrough led his team to four consecutive Stanley Cup titles from 1976 to 1979. Offered is this absolutely hammered road red Habs knit uniform worn by Doug Risebrough during the 1977-78 campaign. Dougs number 8 sits on the back and sleeves and this one still retains its original crinkled twill nameplate above the back number. Tagged by Wilson in the collar in size 42, this shirt is a well-worn example of the trainer's handywork. Seven typical Canadiens team repairs are scattered over this sweater including one long and wide 3.5-inch jumble of thread. Game wear is heavy with a good number of black stick marks, a few unrepaired holes and slashes and great interior pilling. Garter style fight strap in the tail. If you like wear and original nameplates, this ones for you.
