The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
This sensational lot of three autographed display sticks includes a pair signed by superstar Alexander Ovechkin, along with another souvenir stick signed by his fellow countryman and Washington Capitals teammate, rising star Alexander Semin. Ovechkin burst onto the NHL scene in 2005-06 as the league returned from the lockout that blew off the previous season and Stanley Cup playoffs. The dazzling right winger scored 52 goals for the woeful Capitals and beat out fellow prodigy Sidney Crosby for the Calder Trophy as the league’s rookie of the year. Those two accomplishments are commemorated on these great display sticks, both of which feature Ovechkin’s original blue sharpie autograph on each stick’s straight blade along with a limited edition designation of 17 of 52 for the “52 goals” stick, and 17 of 108 for the Calder Trophy stick. Semin, chosen 13th overall by the Capitals in the first round of the 2002 draft, had 10 goals and 22 points as a rookie in 2003-04. He returned to Russia during the lockout and remained there the following season before rejoining Washington in 2006-07 to record 38 goals and 73 points in 77 games. Semin has signed in blue sharpie along with his No. 28 the blade of a unique Sher-Wood Pro 5000 wood stick that is stamped, “Made in Russia”. The signature is dated October 31, 2003 on the blade along with the notation of No. 10 in a limited edition of 74, all in blue sharpie. Each of this great lot of autographed sticks has a Channel Sports Inc. hologram sticker on the blade.
