This outstanding Pittsburgh Penguins 2006-07 home jersey was worn by the team’s first homegrown player. The son of former Penguins forward Greg Malone, Ryan Malone was born in Pittsburgh on December 1, 1979. Selected 115th overall by the Penguins in the fourth round of the 1999 entry draft, Malone had 43 points as a rookie in 2003-04. He recorded career highs with 27 goals, 24 assists and 51 points in 2007-08, adding six goals and 10 assists in 20 playoff games as the Penguins reached the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since 1992. Malone, who subsequently signed a free agent contract with Tampa Bay, had the No. 12 his father also wore for the Penguins written in black marker on the Canadian flag “size 58” tag sewn into the neck. The laundry tag remains sewn into the left inside seam and the new NHL shield logo is embroidered onto the bottom right of the rear hem. This original Reebok jersey exhibits nice game use with a couple of unrepaired holes in the gold fabric on the back of the left elbow to note and numerous stick and puck marks. A patch sewn into the inside rear hem notes that the jersey is from the Penguins 2006-07 set #1. A certificate of authenticity signed by both Penguins equipment manager Dana Heinze and VP of sales and marketing Dave Soltesz accompanies this jersey.
