Bold black and gold Pittsburgh Penguins home uniform worn by team captain Mario Lemieux during the 1992-93 NHL season. Mario’s surname crosses the back shoulders above the historic double-sixes. The captain’s “C” adorns the left breast and stylized penguins sit on each shoulder while the letters spelling out “Pittsburgh” cascade diagonally down the front. Tagged in the neck by Maska with the Ultrafil designation and a size “54” fly tag off to the side. The tag is marked in ballpoint with the notations “1004” and “M. LEMIEUX”. This example shows better game use than his more recently worn uniforms. A few dozen black stick marks litter the front and we count at least four dozen more on the sleeves. Note that this shirt does not have the 1992-93 100th Anniversary of the Stanley Cup commemorative patch on the chest. Pittsburgh was the only franchise to go without the patch on these black road shirts and all photos of Mario from the season wearing this style will support this fact. A great sweater worn by one of the greatest ever to lace ‘em up! Comes with a detailed letter of authenticity from noted Penguins expert Casey Samuelson.
