Selected in 1970 by the Philadelphia Flyers, Bob Kelly was an aggressive left-winger who would become a member of the famed Broad Street Bullies and helped guide the Flyers to their two consecutive Stanley Cup championships in 1974 and 1975. Along with teammate Dave Schultz, Kelly was one of the team’s top enforcers. Seventies-vintage home white Philly Flyers uniform worn by Bob “Hound” Kelly during the Stanley Cup Championship season of 1973-74. Neck tagging is there with a small hite size 48 label with the washing obstructions tag behind. The heavy knit displays game wear with a number of back stick marks and some fraying at the number from multiple washings. The two-tone tackle twill numbers show b small pinholes, a tell-tale sign of a real Flyers shirt from the period, as the team sewers would hold the numbers in place using straight pins before affixing them to the shirt with the machine. The original short nameplate is there above the number “9” and a garter-style fight strap that had been added in the tail has been cut out leaving a one-inch remnant. From the personal collection of Bob “Hound” Kelly and comes with a detailed letter of authenticity and provenance signed by Bob. The letter reads, in part “The jersey you are purchasing is the #9 Home (White) Jersey I wore during the 1973-74 season and into the playoffs. I was injured in game five of the semi-finals against the New York Rangers and did not play in the finals”. A seldom-seen style.
