The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Born of the WHA in 1972-73, the Quebec Nordiques brought NHL hockey back to the provincial capital when they joined the league in 1979. An upset playoff series win over the Montreal Canadiens in 1982 touched off one of the most sensational and heated rivalries in hockey history, which lasted until the franchise relocated to Colorado in 1995. This sensational original painting by artist Carleton “Mac” McDiarmid was commissioned by Maxwell House and includes images of Nordiques legends Jean-Claude Tremblay, Daniel Bouchard, Dale Hunter, Jeff Brown, Real Cloutier, Anton Stastny, Peter Stastny, Marian Stastny, Michel Goulet, Ron Tugnutt, Marc Tardif, Joe Sakic, Mats Sundin and Guy Lafleur. Signed “McDiarmid 91” by the artist, this fantastic montage tribute to Nordiques history is presented in a 35” x 28” grey frame with a two-level white matte.
