The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
A Montreal Canadiens legend of the 1920s and 1930s, Aurel Joliat won three Stanley Cups with the team, including 1924 and consecutive wins in 1930 and 1931. His trademark black cap is in place in this glorious original portrait of himself which was painted by artist Carleton “Mac” McDiarmid. Joliat has autographed and dated “CHC, 1921-1938, Ottawa, February 12, 1977” the painting, which has been beautifully presented in a two-tone grey and white matte and mounted in a 20” x 16” silver frame. Canadiens fans will always remember his participation in the team’s 75th anniversary celebrations when he took part in a penalty shot display by members of the Habs’ dream team despite his advanced age and won the hearts of everyone watching for his display of eternal youth.
