The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Talk about a rarity, this original portrait of Carl Voss by artist Carleton “Mac” McDiarmid displays the 1933 Calder Trophy winner as a member of the first NHL team in St. Louis. Voss sports the uniform of the ill-fated Eagles, who played all of one season in the league after the franchise relocated from Ottawa. The Eagles went 11-31-6 in 1934-35 and the league didn’t return to St. Louis until the expansion Blues joined in 1967-68. Voss has signed his portrait “Calder Trophy Winner 1933, Royal York Hotel, August 25, 1977”. The image is beautifully displayed in a two-tone grey and white matte and mounted in a 20” x 16” silver frame.
