This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
This group of three sensational original paintings by artist Carleton “Mac” McDiarmid depicts the Montreal Canadiens hockey legends grouped in three eras. Lalonde, Vezina, Morenz, Durnan, Lach and Blake are among those represented in the image depicting the Habs’ early history from the 1910s through the 1940s. The image of the golden years of the 1950s, 1960s and early-1970s features Maurice and Henir Richard, Harvey, Geoffrion,Beliveau, Plante and Cournoyer while Savard, Lemaire, Dryden, Robinson, Shutt, Lafleur, Gainey, Naslund and Carbonneau figure prominently in the painting of the Canadiens’ modern stars, which has an image of Brian Skrudland superimposed by the artist over another of Patrick Roy because the goalie declined permission to use his likeness in this series commissioned by Maxwell House. McDiarmid has signed each of these original 25” x 18” paintings which are all beautifully presented in a 35” x 28” grey frame and mounted in a two-level white matte. A wonderful opportunity for Canadiens/Stanley Cup memorabilia collectors.
