The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Andy Bathgate enjoyed personal success with the New York Rangers early in his career, though it was only once he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs that he earned the right to drink from the Stanley Cup. Toronto’s win in 1964 gave the Leafs their third straight Cup, the first of Bathgate’s Hall of Fame career. His original signature is one of six autographs from members of the 1963-64 team in this beautiful display, along with Frank Mahovlich, Red Kelly, Allan Stanley, Larry Hillman and Johnny Bower. Presented in a 29” x 25” wood frame, the display features a “skate marks on ice” silver matte with blue and white accents and an inset photo of Detroit’s Gordie Howe with his arm draped around Bower’s shoulder. A silver-colored plaque lists the players’ names from the team photo and the result of the Stanley Cup final.
