The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
The Toronto Maple Leafs enjoyed tremendous success in the 1940s. After losing their next six appearances in the finals throughout the 1930s following their Stanley Cup win in 1932, the Maple Leafs went 6-for-6 in the Cup final from 1942 to 1951. The 1946-47 Leafs began an unprecedented run of three straight Cups with a six-game win over the Montreal Canadiens. Howie Meeker beat out Gordie Howe for the Calder Trophy and his signature is one of 10 original autographs featured in this tremendous display, along with Vic Lynn, Gus Bodnar, Bud Poile, Joe Klukay, Wally Staniowksi, Gaye Stewart, Harry Watson, Ted Kennedy and Gus Mortson. The gorgeous color team photo is accompanied by a gold-colored plaque that lists the results of each game of the final. Presented in a 33” x 24 ½” wood frame, the display is mounted with a “skate marks on ice” silver matte on the exterior, with a blue matte with a white accent surrounding the photos and autographs.
