Lovely 100+ year old antique chinaware features the man who donated hockey’s Stanley Cup while Canada’s Governor General and who returned home in July, 1893 to become the Sixteenth Earl of Derby following the death of his brother. Stanley later became Mayor of Preston in 1902. This commemorative pairing, also dated 1902, features an image of the “Earl Derby K.G. Guild Mayor” surrounding Stanley’s image on the tea cup. The matching saucer, produced for the September 1902 Preston Guild celebration is the perfect companion piece to the cup. In excellent condition.
