The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Trio of china pieces, with images of the Earl of Derby, produced in 1902 to commemorate the Preston Guild. Frederick Arthur Stanley, the donator of hockey’s Stanley Cup, presided over Preston, England and its Guild Fair in 1902 as the mayor of the historic town. This collection includes a fine blue flow china dinner plate, dated 1902 with an image of Lord Stanley at the right. In excellent condition. A handled cup or mug with gilt rim features a different image of Stanley and is cracked but has been repaired. Rounding out the group is a shallow dish that accompanies the cup and is also dated September 1902, but does not have any reference to the Earl of Derby.
