The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Some of hockey’s biggest names laced up their skates to play in an All-Star game in December of 2004 to celebrate Igor Larionov’s retirement from professional hockey after an incredible 27 seasons. The game was played December 13th at the Luzhniki Arena in Moscow and featured many of Larionov’s former Detroit Red Wing teammates playing for “Team World”, against a team of well-known Russian NHLers, with “Team Russia” winning an entertaining game by the score of 6-5. This Sergei Samsonov blue knit jersey has a Russian manufacturer’s tag in the inner hem that indicates size 52. Lettering on the front of the vintage-style Russian jersey, Sergei’s surname and his number “14” on the back are all tackle twill-like material and sewn-on. The nice embroidered farewell game patch on the front and the “EFSI” patch on the back are also sewn-on while everything else is sublimated. A label sewn in the inner front hem includes the Larionov farewell game logo and indicates “Set 1”. Samsonov autographed the “4” on the back in black sharpie. The second shirt in the lot is an example from Team World, worn by Darren McCarty. Very similar to the Samsonov, this one is signed by Darren on his number “25” and has a Set 2 tag in the lower hem. One mark tells the tale of the game wear on this shirt and there are a few marks up on the shoulder of the Samsonov gamer. Both jerseys will come with a letter of authenticity signed by Igor Larionov.
