The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
This fantastic original David Bier photo of Jacques Plante making a save early in the 1960-61 season was displayed in the halls of the Montreal Forum. The 29” x 30” print shows the masked Canadiens goalie covering up the puck with Jerry Toppazzini bearing down on him as the Bruins’ leading scorer is being chased by Hall of Fame defenceman Tom Johnson. Habs legend Jean Beliveau is in the background of the photo, which is labeled to show that the action is from a 1-1 tie with Boston at the Forum on October 8, 1960. The outside edges of the print are surrounded by screw holes from where it was removed from display after the fabled arena closed in 1996. Still attached to its original backing, the print is approximately ¼” thick. A fantastic display souvenir from the Montreal Forum.
