This silver-plated copper bowl resembling Lord Stanley’s original trophy was presented to members of the 1952-53 Montreal Canadiens to honor the team’s seventh Stanley Cup win. Elmer Lach scored in overtime in the fifth game of the finals as Montreal beat Boston to claim the title, prompting the team to issue this magnificent award. The bowl of the trophy is engraved “National Hockey League Stanley Cup Winners – Season 1952-53” on one side and “Club De Hockey Canadien Inc. – Paul Marcel Raymond” on the other. Marked “Sheffield S.P. Copper” beneath the base, the trophy stands 5 1/2” and is 9” in diameter. The trophy remains in good condition with copper showing on the inside of the bowl.
