The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
The New York Islanders repeated as Prince of Wales champions in 1982-83 before going on to beat the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup finals for their fourth straight championship. The Islanders got past the Boston Bruins in a six-game conference final to lay claim to the long-standing NHL award that had previously been awarded to the league’s regular season champions. This is the original personal trophy that was presented to Islanders forward Bob Bourne by the NHL. The 2” high wooden base of the trophy has a plaque on one side that is engraved “N.H.L. CHAMPIONS NEW YORK ISLANDERS 1982 – 83” and a plaque on the other side has Bourne’s and the trophy’s name engraved on it. The wooden base exhibits some wear and has its original green felt underneath it. This fantastic memento from the road to the Islanders’ fourth straight Stanley Cup comes along with Bob Bourne’s signed letter of authenticity.
