The New York Islanders achieved immortality as a dynasty in 1982 when they became the first American team to win three Stanley Cups in a row. The Islanders survived a first-round scare against Pittsburgh, winning the ultimate game in overtime. Once they got past the archrival Rangers in a tough six-game series, the Islanders were on their way to making history and joining Montreal and Toronto in the exclusive
three-straight Cups club with consecutive sweeps of the Quebec Nordiques and the Vancouver Canucks. The team marked the accomplishment in style with this stunning diamond and gold ring. Three big diamonds are stacked on top of each other on the ring’s face with the biggest one in the middle, and Stanley Cup Champions 1982 in raised letters surrounding the diamonds. A raised image of the Islanders logo in white gold is on the right shank along with “Bourne” and his
No. 14. The ring’s left shank has “Islanders” in raised letters and three Stanley Cups with each championship year on it, the 1982 Cup presented in white gold, with a nod to the team’s Prince of Wales conference championship at the bottom. “First American Team” and three tiny images of the Stanley Cup are engraved on the interior of the band along with “Balfour 10K”. This dazzling size 9 ring will conjure up great memories for Islanders collectors and it comes along with Bob Bourne’s signed letter of authenticity.
