Team Canada closed out the last edition of the Canada Cup in style with a
two-game sweep of the United States in the final of the 1991 tournament. Here are the original trophy and gold medal presented to Dr. Ernie Lewis, the national team’s longtime dentist. The Canada Cup replica trophy stands nearly 10” tall, from the bottom of its hockey puck-shaped base to the tip of its stylized maple leaf. The Cup replica itself is about 8 ½” high and mounted on a round black base with red felt underneath and identified as having been produced by MST Bronze Limited of Concord, Ontario. The original gold medal is 2 ¼” in diameter with its vintage red and white ribbon. The face of the medal features a raised gold image of the Canada Cup with “Canada Cup, Coupe Canada” encircling it in raised letters. The reverse of the medal has the logos of each of the six participating national hockey federations, Canada, the U.S.S.R., Sweden, the U.S.A., Finland and Czechoslovakia encircling the outside of the medal. These remarkable Team Canada awards from the final Canada Cup come along with Dr. Lewis’ signed LOA.
