The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
The 1991 Canada Cup tournament proved to be the final edition of the country’s showcase international hockey competition. Team Canada closed out the competition in style with its fourth title in five editions of the Canada Cup. Canada’s two-game sweep over the United States in the final marked the fourth different opponent it had beaten in the tournament’s ultimate series following Czechoslovakia in 1976, Sweden in 1984, and the Soviet Union in 1987. This gold and diamond creation is similar to the 1987 Canada Cup ring, with a flatter face compared to a more rounded edge on its predecessor. The 1991 ring also features five diamonds on its face, one more than the 1987 ring. A raised white gold Canada Cup is surrounded by the diamonds and “Coupe Canada Cup” in raised gold letters. The size 8 ring’s left shank is engraved “1991” while the name “Lewis” is engraved on the right shank. The inside of the band is stamped “Jostens 10K” and the ring is in excellent condition. A great opportunity to obtain a championship ring from the final edition of the Canada Cup tournament, this wonderful ring comes along with Dr. Ernie Lewis’ signed letter of authenticity.
