The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Team Canada claimed four Canada Cup titles over the course of the tournament’s five incarnations. The only time Canada fell short was in 1981, when they were embarrassed 8-1 by the U.S.S.R. in the tournament final at the Montreal Forum after beating the Soviets 7-3 in the round robin phase. This classic gold and diamond ring from the 1981 Canada Cup tournament was presented to Dr. Ernie Lewis, the national team’s longtime dentist. The size 8 ring is engraved “10K” inside the band, that exhibits a professional sizing repair at the back of the band. “Coupe Canada Cup” is in raised gold letters around the face with four diamonds at bottom, all encircling a raised image of the Canada Cup in the middle. The ring’s left shank has a raised “19” while the right shank has “81” in raised gold numbers. This remarkable collectors’ item comes along with Dr. Ernie Lewis’ signed letter of authenticity.
