The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Here’s a great pair of items for Maurice “Rocket” Richard, Montreal Canadiens and “hockey in general” collectors. The one and only Rocket himself has autographed the back of the bare blade of this Koho wood stick, a promotional wand from the Ultramar gasoline company. This outstanding signed hockey stick comes along with one of the most iconic photos in hockey history. Beautifully framed and tastefully presented, this black and white print of La Presse photographer Roger St. Jean’s shot of Richard and Lach celebrating the Cup-winning goal in 1953 measures approximately 19” x 15” and is mounted in a 24” x 20” silver frame with a red matte and a white trim border. Bruins captain Milt Schmidt is left sitting on the ice as he looks on in vain at the Canadiens’ celebration in which Richard accidentally broke Lach’s nose. A small price to pay for another Stanley Cup!
