The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
This kitschy triangular wooden frame NHL team puck display has a newspaper copy of the final standings of the 1980-81 season glued to the reverse, which has been signed in blue sharpie by Hall of Fame defenceman Jacques Laperriere. Montreal finished atop the Prince of Wales Conference with a 45-22-13 record for 103 points, four points ahead of Los Angeles and Buffalo. The display case holds 21 NHL team pucks glued into place and believed to be all original official game pucks. Virtually all of the NHL teams of the early-1980s – including the Colorado Rockies, Minnesota North Stars and each of the four WHA teams admitted to the league in 1979 – are displayed with only Vancouver missing while St. Louis is represented twice. This uniquely personal item from Lappy’s collection includes an assortment of AHL pucks, and two Ligue Nord-Americaine de Hockey pucks.
