The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
This is the original 1980-81 Montreal Canadiens official team photo that was presented to Jacques Laperriere by the team. The studio mounted David Bier photo features Laperriere in a suit in on the far right of the back row in his new role as an assistant coach on Claude Ruel’s staff. Lappy’s shortlived perm hairstyle stands out, as does captain Serge Savard in the middle of the front row in his final team photo as a Canadiens player. Stanley Cup veterans Lafleur, Shutt, Jarvis, Mondou, Risebrough, Larouche, Houle, Tremblay, Napier, Gainey, Lambert, Engblom, Robinson, Lapointe and Langway are joined by Herron, Sevigny, Acton, Nilan, Wickenheiser, Picard and Gingras on this team in transition, a Prince of Wales winner that was upset by the upstart Edmonton Oilers in a three-game opening round playoff sweep. The team is lined up in front of the boards with the Forum’s famed red seats in the background of this 13 ½” x 10 ¼” original studio print which has been mounted on beige matte within a 22” x 18” wood frame. The vintage frame has heavy scratching on both the left and ride side of the frame, while the original photo remains in excellent condition. Jacques Laperriere has signed the reverse in blue sharpie and he will supply a signed letter of authenticity. The players’ names are listed at the bottom of the matte which is titled, “Club de Hockey Canadien 1980-81 Prince of Wales Trophy Winner”. A great Habs collectors item.
