The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Jacques Laperriere left his native town of Rouyn-Noranda to play hockey in the Montreal Canadiens development system. This lot includes photos and memorabilia from the early stages of his career, including a team-autographed Hull-Ottawa Canadiens photo with the vintage signatures of Sam Pollock, Terry Harper, Jimmy Roberts, Cesare Maniago, Claude Larose, Brian Smith and Ernie Wakely, in addition to Lappy’s own original signature. This photo is one of three original black and white 10” x 8” team photos produced by studio Jacques Potvin in Hull. There is also a fantastic original Arnott & Roger studio-mounted 10” x 8” color team photo of the 1961-62 Hull-Ottawa Canadiens. The spectacular photo shows Pollock, head scout Scotty Bowman, Laperriere, Maniago, Wakely, Harper, Roberts, Larose, Barclay Plager and Bill Masterton posed with the Tom Foley Memorial Trophy as EPHL champions. The original cardboard backing lists the team’s players at the bottom and exhibits some creasing, and the bottom edge is quite worn and frayed, with a small water stain in the bottom right corner. An original 5” x 4” of the St. Laurent Jets and Port Alfred lined up along the bluelines at the Forum on April 19, 1958 before the opening game of their playoff series, a team autographed original 1957-58 Jets championship dinner program signed by Laperriere and GM Cliff Fletcher and seven original St. Laurent police department 10” x 8” official photographs of the Jets’ victory parade and municipal reception complete this great lot.
